Primitive Grungy Heart Bowl Fillers*

This is a very easy way to make fast prim bowl fillers!

Prim Bowl Fillers

You’ll need:

- White Styrofoam hearts (available at yankee one dollar) You can also use their Styrofoam balls. These hearts and balls are made from the same type of Styrofoam that they make coolers with so they are quite durable.
- Candle wax-you can use old candles
- Old electric Potpourri simmering pot that you don’t want to use potpourri in anymore. I have never tried with any other melting options so I don’t know how much heat they can take.
- Dry Coffee grounds
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
- Stiff wire or wooden skewers
- Candle scent (optional)
- Instant coffee (optional)
- Block of foam

Please read instructions before you start.

Melt your wax. This takes a while in the potpourri pot. Add your scent and instant coffee now if your going to use them. Insert your wire or skewer into the top middle of your heart. I found that the bottom of the heart breaks off too easily. Now put your dry coffee grounds in and dip your heart. Sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon. Let first coat of wax harden. I do several at a time, that’s what the block of floral foam is for. Stick your skewer or wire into the foam block to let the heart dry and give several more hearts their first coat of wax. Go back and repeat the process until you have them the way
you like them.

Helpful Hints:

*Dip quickly because your wax will melt back off.
*I also like to have some dry coffee ground on a piece of aluminum foil, then after you dip in the wax, press your heart in the coffee grounds on each side. I usually only do this once per heart.
*If wax is built up on the skewer where it is inserted into the heart, peel the wax off the skewer before removing the heart. You don’t want to pull the wax off the heart too.
