| A New Paint Remover! (for furniture or other wood projects) |
|
Well, on the advice of a friend, I found a new paint remover for wood. It saved me this weekend! I had put a varnish/sealer on the deck steps this weekend and it turned white! It wasn't the product, it was me! A friend recommended trying oven cleaner, instead of some of those super strong caustic strippers. Well, by golly, it worked!! I have now used it on a couple smaller thrift store finds and its wonderful! I bought a little table that had 5 layers of paint on it and they are all gone! All I had to do was shake the oven cleaner (A no name brand from the dollar store) really well, spray it on and wait about 20 minutes. I then sprayed it with a plain old garden hose to rinse it; then applied again (there was no scraping like with strippers). Two times of this and it's done. I used a regular scrub brush around the cracks and corners and it all came off. I had to pass this on to ya... it's a great time saver! ~Kim

Hi All!
I just did the first steps for this paint removing method and it worked!!!! I am so delighted, I will do the second spraying tomorrow to remove the last layer of paint cant wait to finish the door up.
Thanks again Kim for the tip! I and my family are flea market, yard sale and thrift store junkies and I am going to share this info with my whole family! (*_*)

I am trying this tonight and hope it really works. I would like to know what kind of paint it works on, will it work on the glossy paint also? What kind of paint did it remove for you Kim?

My husband is a carpenter and passed this goodie on to him. Just recently he had put the wrong tinted varnish on 20 kitchen doors and to a great expense to remove his BIG BOO BOO ....... definitly will try.
