A New Paint Remover! (for furniture or other wood projects)

Well, on the advice of a friend, I found a new paint remover for wood. It saved me this weekend! I had put a varnish/sealer on the deck steps this weekend and it turned white! It wasn't the product, it was me! A friend recommended trying oven cleaner, instead of some of those super strong caustic strippers. Well, by golly, it worked!!

I have now used it on a couple smaller thrift store finds and its wonderful! I bought a little table that had 5 layers of paint on it and they are all gone! All I had to do was shake the oven cleaner (A no name brand from the dollar store) really well, spray it on and wait about 20 minutes. I then sprayed it with a plain old garden hose to rinse it; then applied again (there was no scraping like with strippers). Two times of this and it's done. I used a regular scrub brush around the cracks and corners and it all came off. I had to pass this on to ya... it's a great time saver!

  • I am trying this tonight and hope it really works. I would like to know what kind of paint it works on, will it work on the glossy paint also? What kind of paint did it remove for you Kim?
