Shoe polish is the one item I haven't thought to try. I will now. Thank you for the information and taking the time to share it with us.

Shoe polish works great for sealing paper maiche boxes, even great for the paper clay items one might make. I have used it on my dolls also. It really gives an aged appearance if buffed good on your wood or paper designs.

I'm new to the grubby era. I've been coffee dying material and baking it for a great look and wonderful smell, but am not getting good results with black fabric. I am going to try the shoe polish technique. Thank you so much for the suggestion.

Sound like a wonderful idea and I will be using it. I use brown shoe polish to destress my black painted items. It gives it a old look and makes them easier to dust.
