Make Your Own Mica Powder

If you have mica flakes, there is no need to buy mica powder (the finer mica glitter). All you have to do is put your mica flakes in the blender! Mica is non-toxic, so you don't have to worry about contaminating your blender. Doing this creates a lot of dust, so just make sure you have the cover on tight, and let it settle before taking the cover off. Also, you might want to wear a mask for extra safety, or perhaps do it outside; it could get messy! ;)

  • Hi, this is the first time I have been to this site. I want to start up my own home business with crafts and home decor. I am looking for answers to whole sites. I have been in hundreds but I still can't find the primitive ones. If anyone out there knows of any really good ones could you please email me. I will come back soon. I have learned new ideas from this site. Thanks

  • Hi Deb! If you want just a light dusting effect, then you can use a spray adhesive to adhere the glitter. If you want more glitter on the item; you can use a white craft glue.

  • Not a comment, but a question: how do you get glass glitter and mica flakes to adhere to your project? Glue stick? Any help would be appreciated as I'm stalled on my piece!!
